Our History

Our Beginnings

The story of Rohi Temple of Reconciliation begins more than eight years ago. RTR was founded by Pastor Jeff Heard who had a burden on his heart to reach the East Side San Jose community for Christ. The church began only with three members then eventually grew into what later became its home in the East Valley YMCA located on White Road. After years of dedication and God’s hand over the ministry, RTR eventually moved to its present location of Ocala Middle School on Ocala Avenue in East San Jose.

Where Did the Name “Rohi Temple of Reconciliation” Come From?

People ask all the time where the name of the church originated. It’s really quite simple! The word “Rohi” means – Lord, my Shepherd, the word “Temple” means – a place where God’s presence dwells, and “Reconciliation” means – to reestablish a relationship with God. The bible says:

Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation: that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting men’s sins against them. And he has committed to us the message of reconciliation.
