I am sure that this global pandemic and national emergency is creating a lot of questions regarding our everyday life. If you have not already watched the message from Sunday. Please feel free to watch online or listen to the podcast entitled: “A Biblical Response to A Global Pandemic.”
In order to begin to address these issues for our church, I am updating the information that was sent in my previous email by answering some important questions that you may have.
1. WILL WE HAVE CHURCH SERVICES?
YES and NO — We are encouraging you to stay home and join in the services on-line through our livestream. Our service will be available online at 10:00 a.m. on Sunday. Click Here To Watch On Sunday! While we encourage everyone to join us during this worship time, the service will also be available on-demand during the week as well. If this is the option that you choose, I encourage you to gather together with your family in your home and worship together with us.
2. WHICH MINISTRY EVENTS WILL BE IMPACTED AND FOR HOW LONG?
Santa Clara County has changed its guidelines and we have a shelter-in-place order. They are cancelling all non-essential events no matter the size. We are abiding by these guidelines and will cancel all small groups and services that meet at our church facility. If small group leaders choose to do video conferencing to continue their small group, they are able to do so.
This includes Wednesday Night Bible Study and our Next Steps Classes, however, we will be going to an online format for both of these. Please visit us here to get more information about these classes.
We will still host our Operation Solid Lives classes but will also provide an online option if that is more convenient. We want to honor the hard work that students have put into these intense discipleship classes and finish strong.
Children and Youth Classes on Sunday mornings will also be cancelled. However, we are working to provide online groups and service for your children and youth. Please stay tuned for more information. All children and youth are encouraged to worship together with adults at home or if you choose to come to service, with their families. This is a good time to continue to talk to your children about their faith.
3. WHY ARE WE TAKING THESE MEASURES?
The White House, working with the CDC, issued guidelines for Santa Clara County, as well as Santa Clara County having now issued measures to take for small and large gatherings. In an effort to partner well with our community, we are following these guidelines and making every effort to help stem the tide of this pandemic. To see the latest guidelines from the Santa Clara County Public Health Department, please visit the link below:
By law, organizers must also ensure people can stay six feet away from each other, make hand sanitation available, and allow people to cancel for events that require payment, said County Counsel James Williams. They must follow guidance for cleaning venues before, during and after events.
