Just because you may not be out on the streets homeless or in dire straits, it doesn’t mean your life is without problems. Sometimes, we use the level of other people’s problems, pains and sufferings to determine our level of problems and how we should live. The problem with that is we think that there is nothing wrong with settling for right where we are because we are not dealing with far worse things, or if we are, assuming that things won’t get better.

God did not give up His Son to die for us for us to just settle for right where we are. Jesus didn’t come to give life and that more abundantly for us to be okay with some problems and having a “that’s just the way it is or going to be” mentality. Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now unto Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,” not unto Him who is able to do mediocre, average of what we ask or think.

So why do we think less of God and of ourselves? Sometimes we think, “Well, I’ve got the house (or a roof over my head). I’ve got my health (or at least I’m alive). I’ve got myself (or my family). I’ve got the degree (or the ability or the passion),” but we stop there thinking that’s it or I have arrived. That’s limiting. We keep trying to measure up to the world’s standard of life thinking this must be what God wants for us, but God and the world are not on the same level.

Today, if there are things in your life that you realize that you just have settled in or just accepted as is, and you want that to change, tell God about it. Ask Him to help you with those things. God has so much more life to give you. Don’t settle. God gives what the world can’t but what everyone is in search of. Don’t settle for anything less. God wants to take us from glory to glory. Don’t settle for being stuck where God is trying to take you past.
