We just started 2023 and are already almost halfway through January. In this first month of the year, at Rohi, we have dedicated the first 21 days to God with 21 Days of Prayer and Fasting. We are putting God first, or at least that’s the plan, right?

There’s nothing like praying and fasting to help strip down everything in our lives to help us see and hear God and us more clearly. What I’m seeing is that I may not be putting God first as much as I thought I was. When I think of all the things that I am doing, and all the things that I’m not doing but need to do so I can do what God has told me to do, I wonder who and what really is priority to me. Things are being put in check here.

Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be.- Matthew 6:21 NLT

This is good and necessary because if I want God to be glorified in my life, God needs to be first of all of my life. Period. It’s not just knowing in my head that He’s first, but an application and demonstration in my life of me putting Him first- always. It is not okay if I just start my day in prayer and worship, and then just do my own agenda thereafter and not all that He has told me to do throughout the day.

If we are going to see our lives different in 2023, then we’ve got to do life differently. We can start off with repenting and removing anything in the way of God being first. Then let’s put God first in every part of our lives and do what He says to do. Seek God and His kingdom first for everything, take care of His business first and He will take care of yours. After all, God is first. And the one and only God.
